Arkansas Gastroenterology Associates & Endoscopy center welcomes our new Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Jody Purifoy. Jody holds a Doctoral of Nursing Education degree and National Board Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner obtained at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She joins us after 23 years at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She brings a holistic, quality based, compassionate approach to our team. Her prior experience has been most recently in the Urology Department at UAMS specializing in general urology, constipation, and pelvic abdominal pain. She was the urinary/fecal incontinence nurse prior to that and worked as a Surgical Technician in the OR before becoming a Registered Nurse.
As a member of the GI team partnering with Dr. John Brandt and Dr. Steven Matthews she provides a holistic approach to patients with the following conditions: irritable bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), irritable bowel syndrome, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, fecal incontinence, fecal urgency, disorders of the liver, gallbladder and pancreas, reflux, nausea and vomiting, hemorrhoids, and rectal pain.
She is an active member of the AGA, AUA, AACNP, President of the Razorback Chapter of the Society of Urologic Nurses & Associates, and serves on the National Education Committee for APP’s with the AUA. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, playing tennis, traveling, sailing, and developing new interventions for better patient care.
